“I self-sabotage because all good things come to an end.” Those are the subconscious tapes of the fatal optimist. That end is usually ugly, otherwise it wouldn’t end. Having that bleak outlook underlying all goals and efforts in life assures that even when you’re doing the thing you’re made to do and flowing in a role, or lifespace, you find a way to implode- or at the very least deflate- any good from the situation upon exit.
That is the fatal flaw in the character arc that needs to be overcome.
Despite the decades of crazy optimism which built a life on many adventures it makes sense to be at this place near the end. And for such a time as this.
